As a full-time REALTOR®, it’s my job to stay on top of the market as well as what’s new and interesting in homes.
One thing I’ve found to be very true is that the kitchen continues to be a huge selling point for homes. A great looking kitchen that’s functional and has unique features is a huge draw for buyers. Here are some things that are at the forefront of kitchen design and decor for 2012.
• Gray Cabinets- Sleek, stylish gray cabinets have been popping up in new construction homes in our area of Auburn and Opelika Alabama as well as across the nation. Many are predicting this to be the next hot new cabinet trend and I’ve found it to be a refreshing look for the kitchen. It really looks fabulous with stainless steel appliances.
• Clutter free with technology- Clean lines and sleek appliances are the wave of the future leaving less clutter on the counters and filling the consumer desire to have their favorite gadgets at hand-even in the kitchen! For those who really want to be on the cutting edge of kitchen style, you can purchase a gorgeous refrigerator complete with a HD television built right in. This is great for those that want to catch the latest cooking show while polishing their culinary skills.
• Clean and Green- Home owners have decided to make a conscious effort to be more energy efficient. They are also looking for ways to be kind to the environment. Combine these goals and you have a formula for going green in the kitchen. This can be done in a variety of ways. One method is by installing appliances that are built to be energy efficient. Another is by using green friendly kitchen gadgets and cleaning supplies. The Bosch dishwasher above exceeds Energy Star standards by approximately 36%.
If you are shopping for a new home or even considering building or remodeling your current house, the items above are likely to be the ones generating the most buzz.
