I have been reading a lot of great articles about the hot new housing trends and one in particular keeps popping up. Called “pocket offices” by many-these are cozy little nook areas where people can get away for a little privacy and yet not have to devote an entire room to being their office. Let’s face it-kitchens and great rooms have gotten larger and these are the areas where families are gathering.
So the pocket office has become the tucked away little space where you can set up your laptop or tablet and do your work while enjoying some personal space. Builders are starting to realize the practicality of this trend and new construction homes are now adding kitchen desk areas for some personal space.
For those that need a little more privacy you’ll see these smart little stations incorporated into unique areas including large pantries. It’s an easy option if the area is large enough to build a desk and some shelving into this type of space. Keeping that “dorm room mentality” alive, we are seeing pretty built in desks in bedrooms as an inexpensive way to add an enticing amenity to an older home.
So what do you think? Are pocket offices here to stay or just a passing trend? I’d love to get your feedback so feel free to leave your comments below. If you added one of these cool little spaces to your home feel free to send me the photo and perhaps it will make it into my blog!
Thanks for stopping by!
