It’s an exciting weekend of football here on the Plains! The Auburn Tigers football team is taking on the Texas A&M Aggies for a nighttime showdown in Jordan-Hare Stadium. That means that lots of folks will be spending the night and perhaps the whole weekend in our lovely area.
I love sharing local recommendations of places to eat and things to do with the fans from both schools.
When you’re hungry:
Delicious cuisine is available in downtown Auburn. If you’re in the mood for an upscale meal but don’t want to drive you can dine at Hamilton’s on Magnolia. You might want to try the sesame crusted seared tuna or the filet mignon cooked to perfection. This cozy little restaurant is located right on the corner of Magnolia and S Gay Street so it’s an easy walk from the campus.
Mellow Mushroom which is just around the corner from the famous Toomer’s Drug Store has a wide array of craft beer on tap and in bottles. The pizza is quite tasty and the jerk chicken sandwich is delicious. It’s a go-to item of mine! (Plan on waiting for a while for a table as this place stays busy!)
Cotton Pickin’ Pumpkin Patch 2012 at Lazenby Farm, Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th from 10:00am – 6:00pm Hayrides/Corn Maze/Pick a Pumpkin and more! (Rates vary for each activity-click the link above for more detailed information.)
If you want to hit up the bar scene you can head to the Bank Vault to hear the Jason McMillan Band on Friday night starting at 10pm. If you’re looking for a late night spot for the college aged set then head down to the War Eagle Supper Club for some live music on Saturday. Music performed by 17th Floor with Ziggy Luis in the Snapperdome! (The Supper Club is an Auburn Tradition!)
